Amazon Tap and Echo Dot: The Two New Alexa Amazon Devices

Amazon introduces two newest members of their device family – the Amazon Tap and Echo Dot. The two new Alexa-enabled devices are relatives of Amazon Echo.

The launching of Amazon Tap and Echo Dot echo the success  of Amazon Echo, which garners lots of positive customer reviews that leads to its high product rating. Thus, Amazon Echo is now the #1 best seller in home automation controllers.

The Echo developers must have been listening to customers’  feedback on their product. That’s why they add  these two new Alexa-powered devices for a much better enhanced user experience. Though Echo is already an awesome product, some users want an Echo-like device that is portable and mobile, thus Amazon Tap is created. (We know that Echo is not portable because it has to be plugged in all the time at the specific area you want in the house.)

Amazon Tap – more portable than Echo

If you’re an outdoorsy type of person, the Amazon Tap’s compact size makes it easy to move around. At 16.6 oz, it’s perfectly portable. And to protect it against bumps and drops, there’s an optional carrying sling (purchased separately). Carrying sling is available in six vibrant colors which you can choose to suit your lifestyle.

Like Amazon Echo, Tap is cylindrical in shape but encased with a wire mesh. And also the light at the top lights up when you ask Alexa.

The capabilities and skills the users enjoyed from their Echo are the same with the Amazon Tap. The only slight difference between the two Alexa-enabled devices is how you are going to use them.

Amazon Echo is hands free with far field voice recognittion.

While the  Amazon Tap (obvious by its name “tap”), you have to tap the microphone button and ask. You can ask for music from TuneIn, Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, and Prime Music from Amazon. It streams all your music via Bluetooth from your smartphone, or any Bluetooth devices, or via Wi-Fi. It provides traffic updates and weather reports. Orders pizza for you. Everything that an Echo can do, likewise with the Amazon Tap.

For the reason of portability than the Amazon Echo, Amazon Tap is created. Besides, users of Amazon Echo are so concerned with their privacy since Echo must be plugged in at all times so it can hear your commands–even you’re far away from it. So, Alexa is always listening.

Amazon Tap is different. As I have already mentioned above, you have to tap first its microphone before your requests or commands.

Having  Bluetooth and Wi-Fi features, you can enjoy listening to your favorite music to the max.

Why? Because of its 9-hour battery life with continuous playback.

And there’s more… it has dual Dolby stereo speakers– a 360-degree omni directional audio. Alexa’s voice, too, is so clear.

Additionally, like Amazon Echo, Amazon Tap sells like hotcakes. Presently, it garners 4.2 star rating out of 5, 2,902 customer reviews, 868 answered questions. No wonder it’s the #1 Best Seller in Outdoor Speakers.

Amazon Echo Dot

Many consumers were happy to have owned an Amazon Echo (read my review here). We can tell that it is beneficial to them and makes their lives easier especially during their hectic schedules or other stressful times.

In fact, many of those Amazon Echo users have availed themselves Echo Dot, which is more portable than Echo and costs less than Echo. So, no need to avail another Echo, just Echo Dot. That is if you like to have one in each room in your house.

The sleek and compact design of Echo Dot makes it great addition in your bedroom. With its built-in speaker, its functionality can be more than a smart alarm clock and switching lights in your bedroom.

You can use it in the kitchen to set timers. Or, asking Alexa to add items in your grocery list.

Or, you can make it as a hub to control your home stereo system in the living room. Echo Dot has an audio connector for external speakers. In your purchase of Dot, a 3.5 mm audio cable is included.

For a smart home push,  Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, and Amazon Tap can be connected to compatible smart devices such as:

…and many more

More skills are added through OTA updates. In fact, the launching of Amazon Echo fifteen months ago, first started with just 18 skills and now it has reached, I think, about nearly 200 skills.
